The full name of this lovely plant is Geranium x cantabrigiense 'Biokovo' and it grows to a height of 30 cm and is a cross between Geranium dalmaticum and Geranium macrorrhizum. It is an excellent groundcover, spreading gently via rhizomes to form a good mat, and it looks good year-round. The pretty flowers, appearing in spring to early summer, are very pale pink, with deep pink stamens, and they are held well above the evergreen, aromatic foliage.
It grows in sun, part shade and full shade. It is tolerant of dryness though spreads best when there is some moisture in the soil. if the foliage gets ratty in summer, it can be sheared back and a crop of fresh leaves will grow. This plant looks effective grown in a container. It is frost hardy. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. Propagation is by detaching rhizomes and potting them up in spring or autumn. The whole plant can be split up if it appears too congested.
