"Lemon trees from pot to ground"

Started by Chris - 6030 Wednesday, 08 July 2020
Hi There, I'm new to gardening and wanted to see if I could utilize a small rectangular area (about 8ft x 2ft) at the front of my kitchen to grow Lemons, Thyme, Rosemary and Basil. From what I can tell they should do well together (assuming I don't kill everything as I have been known to do before). I have a lemon tree (about 6 months old ish, roughly 2ft in height) in a pot that I bought from Bunning's, and it seems to be quite healthy, however my kids love playing with it as it is in a pot and I'm worried they are going to damage it or pull it over. I would love to transplant it to the little garden bed but am not sure when the best time would be. The pot seems to be big enough for the roots at the moment so I don't think I need to change it just yet if its not the right time. I was hoping for some advice. I should mention I'm in WA and the area I want to plant in gets sun from about 10am to sunset most days. Many thanks Chris
