"What vegetable or fruit is thi"

Started by Carolina - 2076 Wednesday, 27 February 2013

I have a vegi bed with cucumbers, pumpkins, tomatoes, capsium to name a few. Some of the flowers/leaves are similar only vary in size, so I didn"t notice until one of the plant has a fruit as seen in the pic. I originally thought it was a cucumber. Does anyone know what this is? You would have asked why it"s in the vegi bed. Well, we have our own compost which comes from kitchen scrap, although I have absolutely no idea when"s the last time I bought/ate such thing in our kitchen. Please help.Thanks.Carolina.

 It looks like a tamarillo.

Both tamarillo and feijoa grow on trees and not vines. It may be some kind of squash or zucchini ; hard to tell.
